How to Write Capital Letter X in Cursive
Start your pencil just below the topline. Bring your stroke at a diagonal downward and to the right. Curve back up slightly making a tail. Then pick up your pencil and go back to the topline. This time place your pencil down to the right of the first stroke you took. Cross through that first line going from topline right to baseline left.
How to Write Lowercase Letter a in Cursive
Cursive letter formation for lowercase letter x is a little different to the letter formation for uppercase letter x. D’Nealian has a lead-in, so you will start your pencil on the baseline, curving upwards towards the midline. Once you reach the midline, return back down to the baseline going to the right. Make a tail to connect to the next letter now. At this point, pick up your pencil land cross over the previous stroke path from midline right to baseline left.
X in Cursive
The cursive letter X comes in a wide variety of designs and styles. Our cursive resources are created with fonts similar to D’Nealian® (DN) and Zaner-Bloser® (ZB) cursive fonts so you can choose the appropriate style for your students. D’Nealian® is a more modern style of cursive, and Zaner-Bloser® is similar to a more traditional style of cursive and some letters of the alphabet can be a bit fancy. How to Connect Capital X in Cursive
Uppercase letter X in cursive ends at the baseline making it the ideal position to connect to the next letter. The final stroke of capital cursive X ends in a downstroke towards the baseline. As such, instruct students to begin curving the downstroke line ever so slightly as they reach the baseline in preparation to come back up for the next letter. See the example above in pink.
How to Connect Lowercase Letter X in Cursive
Lowercase letter x is similarly easy to connect to the next letter. Because the lowercase cursive x also ends at the baseline, the “tail” of the letter x is in the perfect position to connect to the next letter. Instruct students to be ready for the next letter as they come up from the tail.
