How to Write Capital Letter M in Cursive

Start your pencil between the midline and the topline. Bring your stroke upward to the topline and then straight down to the bottom line. As you come back up continue all the back to the topline and begin a small hump at the topline then move all the way back down to the bottom line again. Follow that line back up to almost the topline. Make another hump to the right and go all the way back down to the bottom line for a final time. As you near the baseline pull your stroke up and to the right to create a small tail.

How to Write Lowercase Letter l in Cursive

Cursive letter formation for lowercase letter m is similar to the letter formation for uppercase letter m. Depending on the style of cursive you are teaching, students will either start at the midline or the baseline with a lead in. D’Nealian has a lead-in, so you will start your pencil on the baseline, curving upwards towards the midline. Once you reach the midline, make a small hump and begin going down until you reach the baseline. do this same maneuver 2 more times (making 3 humps total). After the last hump, return back down with a vertical stroke, and curve slightly before the baseline again to create the tail.
