Fun Ideas for Learning with Fraction Circles:

If you’re wondering how to use fraction circles in your homeschool or classroom, here are some fun ideas to get the creativity flowing:

  • Print our black and white fraction circle below for students to color and label themselves.
  • Make circles with as many different fractional pieces as possible.
  • Keep track of all the different combinations that were created (1/9 + 1/9 + 1/9 + 1/3 + 1/3 = 1)
  • Think of each fractional wedge as a slice of pie, or a slice of pizza. Have students create their own story problems for classmates to solve
  • Extend the build beyond 1 whole. Challenge student to make 1 1/2, or 1 1/3.
